Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator/Database Engineer to join our Department Database Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering database solutions and supporting services in accordance with agreed service levels. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our database services, which are based on SQL Server, Oracle, and PostGreSQL.

Your primary duties will include:

  • Designing and implementing new and existing database solutions
  • Installing, upgrading, documenting, testing, commissioning, and configuring database services
  • Providing 2nd-line support and maintenance, including on-call duties
  • Participating in problem and root cause analysis, incident, and problem management
  • Actively participating in project work and internal development activities
  • Monitoring and analyzing database performance and availability, reporting to customers, management, and technicians
  • Conducting investigative work, both internally and externally, in the form of projects

Our team operates in both Agile and DevOps environments, as well as through our Vattenfall project model (VPMM). You will be working in interdisciplinary teams and will have the opportunity to collaborate with committed colleagues.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Several years of experience in database operations, primarily with SQL Server and Oracle, along with emerging platform PostGreSQL
  • Knowledge of additional features such as security, high availability, and monitoring/data analysis
  • Broad knowledge and experience of the surrounding technical infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, and security
  • Basic knowledge and experience of OS administration, including Microsoft and Linux/Unix
  • Knowledge of working with ITIL, both theoretically and practically
  • Experience in leading/participating in incident, change, problem, and configuration management
  • Experience in project work and project management skills
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written, along with Polish
