Job Title: Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Zebra Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and developing firmware for embedded systems, working closely with other disciplines to deliver best-in-class industrial smart camera solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish requirements for moderately complex firmware design projects, prioritizing features implemented based on stakeholder requests and submodule dependencies.
  • Participate in hardware design decisions, including selecting the appropriate processor, pin assignment, resource allocation, and more.
  • Complete all phases of moderately complex embedded firmware design projects, including system bring-up and validation on custom-designed ASICs and PCBs.
  • Review test results and root cause analysis, resolving highly complex technical issues.
  • Review changes or upgrades to existing software designs, developing new solutions to unique problems.
  • Identify issues and make recommendations for complex problems, both short-term and long-term.
  • Make modifications to or upgrades existing embedded firmware designs, optimizing code to reach performance metrics in a set of constraints.
  • Develop positive relationships with other company functions involved in the design, test, and implementation processes.
  • Make recommendations to the immediate team to enhance performance and improve product quality.
  • Exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to meet requirements.
  • Mentor and supervise the work of junior-level engineers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, electronics, telecommunications, automatic control, or mechatronics.
  • 5+ years of work experience in an embedded firmware design role.
  • Familiarity with a variety of embedded processors and associated peripheral hardware.
  • Fail-safe design experience.
  • Proficient with C and C++ firmware development, including familiarity with C++11.
  • Driver development experience, with a preference for data capture (camera/imaging) driver development.
  • Experience optimizing to minimize power consumption.
  • Proficiency with diagnosing and solving problems.
  • Experience working with version control systems (e.g., Git) and bug tracking (e.g., Jira).
  • Experience working with a variety of different sensor types (e.g., voltage/current, Time of Flight, camera).
  • Familiarity with common interface protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, ADC, DAC, MIPI CSI, Ethernet, TCP/IP, USB2/3).
  • Experience working with JTAG debuggers (nice to have).
