Role Overview

The Group Treasury function supports the business to achieve its strategic objectives, covering >50 entities spanning >25 jurisdictions and operating over 5,000 stores under the Pepco, Poundland, and Dealz brands in addition to the PGS operations in Asia.

As Treasury Accountant, you will be accountable for performing accounting, reporting, and controls activities, acting on behalf of various group business units and Pepco operating entities contributing into a world-class treasury function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and accurate accounting journals for complex financial instruments to business units
  • Create and maintain hedge documentation, effectiveness testing, and accounting in line with IFRS9
  • Support daily and monthly bank reconciliations process
  • Assist in maintaining intercompany loan agreements and related accounting journals
  • Perform treasury controls and support the development of a robust control environment
  • Maintain TMS (Treasury Management System) accounting setup (e.g., chart of accounts and posting rules)
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements (e.g., through standardizing treasury operations/processes)
  • Provide specific treasury reporting (e.g., bank fees, interests)
  • Train to become a key user of the TMS
  • Support the implementation of new treasury processes for other Business Units and company/group strategic projects
  • Liaise with auditors during half-year review and year-end audit
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the treasury area
  • Higher education (min. bachelor's degree)
  • English min. B2 proficiency
  • Basic understanding of treasury and financial market operations, corporate treasury experience preferable
  • Continuous improvement seeker, open to new technology and utilizing AI/automation tools
  • Enthusiastic and motivated, team player
  • Problem solver with good analytical/numerical skills
