About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of next-generation wearable devices.

As a software engineer at Google, you will work on a specific project critical to our needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as our business grows and evolves.

You will work closely with product managers and UX designers to scope and build new features, architect the full application stack, and collaborate with the Wear OS platform team to influence design of new APIs.

Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile.

We believe computing is a super power for good, enabling access to information, economic opportunity, productivity, connectivity between friends and family and more.

In this role, you will be responsible for writing and testing product or system development code, reviewing code developed by other engineers and providing feedback to ensure best practices, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software applications for wearable devices
  • Collaborate with product managers and UX designers to scope and build new features
  • Architect the full application stack, UX, database, and system performance
  • Work with the Wear OS platform team to influence design of new APIs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture
  • 3 years of experience with Android application development
  • Experience using Kotlin/Java
