Role Overview:

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll design, develop, and maintain production-grade platforms for global clients. This position is at the heart of our development efforts, contributing significantly to the backbone of client-facing solutions.

You'll be part of a dynamic development team, dedicated to crafting scalable and resilient backend systems.

Location:

Our office in Kraków offers a hybrid work model, with fully remote options available.

Job Requirements:

  • Extensive commercial experience in building web-based applications (over 5 years).
  • Experience in at least one of Upside's core tech stacks: Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Node, or a willingness to learn based on current skills.
  • Outstanding system design abilities, enabling smart tech selection and architectures.
  • In-depth SQL and relational databases knowledge.
  • Working understanding of frontend frameworks and tools (e.g., Vue.js, React.js).
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • Direct work experience with stakeholders (Product Owners or Business Founders) in consulting settings.
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end software development cycles.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

  • Design and Development: Lead robust backend system design and development, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and global client needs are met.
  • Engineering Best Practices: Contribute to refining engineering methodologies and practices, advocating for code quality, security, and efficiency.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment within the development team, sharing ideas and best practices.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Engage directly with business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and incorporate new technologies or methodologies to improve backend system efficiency and reliability.
