About the Role

At Google, we're working on technologies that change how billions of users interact with information. Our engineers develop scalable systems that handle massive data sets. We're looking for an architect to lead our data mining efforts and help us build large-scale infrastructure.

This role involves owning several critical components of our data extraction system and partnering with teams to leverage machine learning-based approaches. You'll define strategies for scaling our data systems and be responsible for the backend powering automated feed management solutions used by merchants.

The Commerce team at Google is responsible for building experiences that serve over a billion shoppers daily. Our mission is to make shopping seamless and secure for consumers and provide tools for retailers to thrive in the digital world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and lead engineering teams on data mining, experiments, logging, and metrics.
  • Define metrics and roadmaps for improving data corpus comprehensiveness and quality.
  • Partner with Search and Core Infrastructure organizations to leverage horizontal tools and discuss partnerships and roadmaps.
  • Create new infrastructure and programs to improve Shopping corpus.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of software development experience, including data structures and algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience testing and launching software products, 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience architecting and developing scalable distributed systems.
  • Ability to exemplify Google's values in diversity, inclusion, and respect.
  • Collaborative working style and ability to lead projects with cross-functional teams.
