Category Manager Job Summary

This Category Manager position is responsible for managing the supply base for a specific category of direct material. The ideal candidate will have experience in direct purchasing for categories such as casting and/or stamping categories and/or connection system and/or plastics.

  • Responsibilities include negotiating and implementing complex supplier agreements and contracts, attaining the lowest up-front value stream performance for all new components, and developing a Buyer Business Plan to achieve targets concerning total cost reduction, quality, payment terms, and localization.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills are essential in this role, as is the ability to evaluate compliance with strategic supply chain guidelines and policies.
  • This position also involves collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and acting as a close counterpart with corporate category teams.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in direct purchasing for categories such as casting and/or stamping categories and/or connection system and/or plastics.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with experience in the EMEA region.
  • Knowledge of automotive supplier qualification processes and the ability to develop strategic suppliers.
  • Frequent travel may be required for this role.
  • English language proficiency is mandatory, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this position.
