Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team at Kingfisher. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for end-to-end development on our data platform, including test development, to ensure continued service delivery versus expectations. You will have a deep understanding of all engineering stages for a data platform, providing an end-to-end, full-stack data expertise from design to build.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction to data engineers working on the data platform, including best practices, review, and testing processes.
  • Offer engineering support as required to the data engineering resource within the delivery squads.
  • Ensure we have the right data engineering resource on the programme, and they are properly onboarded and mentored.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment, and participate in educational opportunities to maintain personal networks and professional organisations.
  • Provide information by collecting, analysing, and summarising development and service issues.
  • Support and develop data engineers by providing advice, coaching, and educational opportunities.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Developer/engineering background of large-scale distributed data processing systems (or experience in equal measure). Can provide constructive feedback based on knowledge.
  • Highly knowledgeable about data modelling, testing, quality, access, and storage.
  • Programming in one or more languages within our data eco-system (Python, SQL).
  • Experience with Databricks and DBT is required.
  • Implemented cloud data technologies on either GCP, Azure, or AWS.
  • Knowledge around shortening development lead time and improving data development lifecycle.
  • Worked in an Agile delivery framework.
