Job Description

We're looking for a skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering Productivity team at Zendesk. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing our tools and processes to make our 1,500+ developers happy, productive, and empowered to deliver exceptional results.

In this role, you'll work closely with a group of highly skilled engineers to build and improve tools that our developers rely on daily. You'll have the opportunity to introduce and refine AI-powered features aimed at making our engineers more efficient, impactful, and happy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Build and support AI tools to simplify development and build processes
  2. Collaborate with users to improve the tool based on their feedback
  3. Lead projects and feature development along with other engineers in the team
  4. Mentor engineers in the team through pairing and code reviews
  5. Share knowledge and learnings across the organization

Requirements:

  1. Proven ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and manage expectations with executive-level stakeholders (Directors, VPs) to drive strategic alignment and successful outcomes.
  2. Ability to transform visions & roadmaps into reality.
  3. You love problem-solving, investigating issues and discovering the appropriate solution
  4. Expert understanding of Kubernetes, or orchestrating Docker containers.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
  6. Expertise in at least one of the programming languages (JavaScript, Go, Python, Java etc.)
  7. Tactics and strategies for engineering productivity internal products to highly technical users in a large multi-product SaaS organization.
  8. Experience with infrastructure management tools (Terraform, Spinnaker).
  9. Ability to collaborate with remote teams.
