  • Hands-On Development: Design, build, and optimize backend applications and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Team Mentorship: Provide guidance, perform code reviews, and foster continuous improvement within the development team.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Product Owners to define functional and non-functional requirements and ensure efficient delivery of business objectives.
  • Quality Assurance: Drive best practices in coding, architecture, and testing while maintaining clean and maintainable codebases.
  • Technical Strategy: Identify technical debt, propose mitigation strategies, and present alternative technical solutions to achieve long-term scalability and performance.
  • Monitoring & Support: Lead deployments, ensure system performance, and provide second-line support for live environments.
  • Process Optimisation: Drive initiatives related to CI/CD and contribute to the improvement of internal tools and processes.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in backend development, with at least 2 years in a team leadership role.
  • Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Proficiency in GitLab, MS SQL, and containerisation technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Experience in building and maintaining microservice architectures.
  • Strong understanding of user authentication, authorisation, and security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead development teams while fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Strong accountability for project outcomes, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and working in cross-functional teams.
