About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our DevOps Platform group as an Engineering Manager. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in shaping our observability platform and ensuring its success.

As an Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility will be to lead and grow our observability platform, focusing on providing clear, reliable, and consistent testing, merge, and deployment services for our internal product.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop a site reliability engineering team focused on making our industry-leading technology even more valuable to our customers.
  • Support career development through one-on-one conversations with team members.
  • Champion an atmosphere of continuous improvement by serving as a leader, mentor, and technical advisor.
  • Collaborate with peer managers, Technical Operations, and Release Management Team to enhance the reliability of Splunk releases.
  • Communicate your team's plans, roadblocks, and wins to the organization.
What We're Looking For:
  • Demonstrated experience leading positive change, hiring and empowering people, cultivating innovative solutions, and fostering effective engineering teams.
  • Experience in building software abstractions and tooling to enable developer velocity.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD governance, monitoring, and metrics-driven architecture.
  • Ability to own end-to-end availability and performance of critical services to reduce operational overhead.
  • Proven track record of driving automation, challenging the status quo, and implementing manual process automation.
  • Cloud, container, and virtualization experience, innovating and scaling secure services in different cloud providers.
  • Expertise in fostering growth, meeting with team members regularly, helping plan and support career development, and recruiting top-tier developers.
  • BS/MS degree in EE, CS, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of proven experience in managing SRE teams.
  • Desire to learn and adapt, constantly learning new areas and new technologies.
  • Passion for the work and excitement about projects.
