Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Big Data Analyst and Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and optimization of big data pipelines and big data-driven applications.

This role is ideal for a professional with technical expertise, analytical skills, and collaboration abilities, looking to apply their knowledge to resolve big data challenges within an innovative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain big data pipelines to facilitate big data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Apply learned techniques to solve moderately complex big data-related issues, escalating more complex problems to senior team members as needed.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, software engineers, and other teams to ensure efficient integration of big data systems.
  • Perform big data cleansing, validation, and transformation with oversight to ensure big data accuracy.
  • Monitor big data pipelines and contribute to identifying areas for performance improvements, with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Identify and resolve routine big data issues, escalating larger problems or anomalies for further investigation.
  • Assist in creating basic big data reports, dashboards, and other big data visualization tools, following predefined templates and standards.
  • Contribute to ongoing big data quality investigations, learning how to resolve issues that may affect accuracy or performance.
  • Support the implementation of big data security protocols, ensuring compliance with internal standards and practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to discussions on best practices for big data engineering.
  • Assist in documenting processes, workflows, and big data systems to ensure internal team knowledge is shared.
  • Perform other duties and activities as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in big data engineering or a similar technical role, ideally in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as Snowflake.
  • Experience with big data pipeline tools such as Fivetran, dbt, Apache Airflow, or similar.
