Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Database Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our agile team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and optimizing Postgres and Oracle databases to support our internal and customer-related projects.

You will be responsible for monitoring and operating databases in high-availability configurations, including on-call duties 24/7 on a weekly basis. Your expertise in optimizing and tuning SQL queries for Postgres and Oracle will ensure the optimal performance of our databases.

You will work closely with development teams, vendors, and operations to handle incidents, changes, and problems according to ITIL standards. As a specialist, you will participate in various project teams, contributing your knowledge and expertise to drive successful outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include database deployments for our customers, code reviews, and the acquisition of new technologies to enhance our database environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Several years of experience with PostgreSQL databases, with experience with Aurora Postgres being a plus
  • Several years of experience with Oracle databases, preferably as an Oracle Certified Professional
  • Good practical knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., scripting, containers, automation, virtualization)
  • Experience with cloud services and IaaS (preferably AWS)
  • Good SQL performance tuning knowledge and skills for Postgres and Oracle
  • Monitoring via Oracle Cloud Control, CloudWatch, Grafana
  • Experience with complex IT landscapes
  • High customer orientation and service mentality
  • Quick comprehension, independent, and responsible work in a team
