Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic development team, contributing to the design and development of robust backend systems serving as the backbone for our client-facing platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of scalable, maintainable, and efficient backend systems that meet the needs of global clients.
  • Engineering Best Practices: Contribute to refining our engineering methodologies and practices, advocating for code quality, security, and efficiency.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment within the development team, sharing ideas and best practices.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Engage with business stakeholders, consulting on and designing technology solutions that meet their needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and incorporate new technologies or methodologies to improve the efficiency and reliability of our backend systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

→ Extensive experience in building web-based applications (+5 years).

→ Experience in at least one of Upside's core technology stack: Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Node or willingness to learn based on current skills.

→ Outstanding system design abilities, enabling smart technology selection and architecture.

→ In-depth understanding of SQL and relational databases.

→ Working understanding of frontend frameworks and tools (e.g. Vue.js, React.js).

→ Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.

→ Experience in direct work with different stakeholders (e.g. Product Owners or Business Founders) in a consulting setting.

→ Deep understanding of end-to-end software development cycle.

→ Great command of written and spoken English.
