Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Warehouse Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and further development of the existing company data warehouse system in a cloud environment (GCP / Big Query).

This position is ideal for someone who would like to improve their skill in data warehousing, reporting and GCP cloud services.

  • Design and develop:
  • Data load processes with large and complex data sets, making sure the solution is maintainable, built with reusable components and with optimal performance
  • Reporting layer data sources used by BI reports for data delivery to business
  • Data / reports delivery automation
  • Integration / data load processes from/to various upstream/downstream systems
  • Focus on data quality assurance, verification of accuracy and consistency of data
  • Maintain and support data load processes ensuring the loads are stable and the data is delivered to business in the stipulated time
  • Maintain clear communication with business about data load failures, inconsistent data and successful loads to the respective distribution groups
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with the data warehouse and external data feeds
  • Support and assist business users in ad hoc data extract data analyses requests
  • Maintain transparent communication within the team / other technical and business departments within the company
  • Participate in daily / weekly team meetings
  • Participate in brainstorming meetings to discuss existing issues and new ideas
  • Develop further current skill set both from technological and soft skills perspective

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • 3+ years of Data Warehouse and reporting-focused work experience
  • Experience in data warehousing and ETL/ELT development is required
  • Experience in SQL query writing and optimisation experience is required
  • Experience with GCP/AWS cloud platform services will be considered an asset
  • Experience with troubleshooting problems related to databases, software applications and servers
  • Experience in business analysis and requirements gathering from business users
  • Keen attention to detail and data quality
  • Knowledge and understanding of data warehouse concepts (such as Kimball or Inmon methodologies)
  • Ability to obtain, analyse and synthesize information from multiple sources
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Hold an academic degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, computer science or mathematics will be considered an asset
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment whilst interacting with a variety of different disciplines
  • Ability to prioritise and deal with problems systematically and provide clear communications regarding the issues, resolution times and solutions
  • Fluent in English
