Team/Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to work within the Valuation Control Group to lead the Securities Hub for Local Markets Rates, G10 Rates and Local Markets Treasuries.
The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent global group within the Controllers organisation responsible for reviewing and reporting fair value inventory. VCG collaborates closely with its client base to ensure complete understanding of business valuation issues and accurate execution of valuation control policy. The successful candidate will be the lead for the securities hub and will be expected to have hands-on involvement as well as supervisory responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working across Product Control, Risk and Operations and Business to perform IPV (independent price verification) for the Securities Hub.
- Supervising team members developing and carrying out price testing for Securities related products across Local Markets and G10.
- Developing valuation adjustments methodologies and performing relevant calculations. Compilation of data to produce detailed Valuation reports for Desk Heads, Controllers and Risk summarising the valuation control results across the Business.
- Enhancing existing control framework by reviewing pricing processes, assessing potential coverage developments and implementing new tools to enhance control efficiency.
- Developing strong working relationships with the Desk, Finance, Audit, Quant and Market Risk partners throughout the firm.
- Ad-hoc projects for the Securities hub that arise relating to further streamlining (or retirement) of existing systems or assisting in the introduction of new systems; performing ad hoc analysis on any new pricing issues; coordinating globally and ensuring consistent independent valuation methodologies are applied; playing a lead role in key valuation projects through significant involvement in the UAT workstreams.
- Acting as first point of escalation with regards to any discrepancies and price variance threshold breaches.
Requirements:
- 6-10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of the valuation of financial instruments.
- Technical knowledge in bond mathematics including Vanilla Bonds, Callable bonds, perpetual, dual currency, structured notes, floaters, amongst others.
- Experience in implementing/maintaining an effective control framework along with regulatory developments and global account standards that impact financial valuations.
- Aptitude in discussing the technical aspects of valuations to pose a credible challenge to the business.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and teamwork cooperation across multiple locations and departments.
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred.
