Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team in designing, building, and maintaining state-of-the-art analytics solutions. As a Data Engineer, you will work closely with experts across various departments to build, maintain, and optimize data analytics solutions.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Analyze business needs and translate them into IT specifications;
  2. Provide expert advice both internally and to other departments within Vattenfall;
  3. Proactively adapt value-added solutions to meet the needs of other departments;
  4. Design, build, and maintain data lake solutions to share data within Vattenfall and with external stakeholders;
  5. Implement traditional database and DWH concepts to structure data in the cloud, on-premise, and hybrid to provide self-service reporting solutions (e.g., using PowerBI);
  6. Build and maintain ETL/ELT tracks and APIs;
  7. Create and continuously develop dashboards in PowerBI;
  8. Work with streaming data analytics together with business stakeholders;
  9. Be part of DevOps teams together with architects, requirement engineers, data engineers, data scientists, and business specialists.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Working experience with Analytics & BI tools and services, preferably in the MS Azure stack (e.g., Synapse workspaces and dedicated SQL pools, SQL Database, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Data Factory, Analysis Services, Function Apps, Power BI, ML);
  • Tech background with an understanding of how analytics solutions are brought into life by means of preferably but not exclusively Python, SQL, C#, PowerShell;
  • Familiarity with CI / CD, testing, and version control (e.g., Azure DevOps, ARM, GIT or similar);
  • Familiarity with Data Warehousing and Data modeling concepts;
  • Understanding of IT Architecture guidelines and principles (e.g., TOGAF) and on-premise, cloud, and hybrid architectural patterns;
  • Experience working agile;
  • Proficient in spoken and written English;
  • Ideal: Good understanding of utility business processes and their IT landscape (SAP ERP, IAM, EAM, SCADA, infrastructure, and security regulations like GDPR).
