YOUR TASKS:

  • Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases on Linux and Windows environments.
  • Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery configurations are in place and tested.
  • Monitor database performance using tools and custom scripts.
  • Analyze and resolve database bottlenecks and provide recommendations for query optimization and schema design improvements.
  • Manage back up and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) compliance through rigorous testing.
  • Implement and maintain database security, encryption, and auditing.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and remediate findings.
  • Develop scripts for automating routine using Bash, Python, or equivalent.
  • Enhance operational efficiency through CI/CD pipeline integration for database changes.
  • Proactively monitor the health and performance of database systems, identifying and addressing issues before they impact users.
  • Document operational procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Work closely with development, DevOps and Infra Ops teams to support database-related needs.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, including hands-on operational expertise in managing production databases.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale PostgreSQL environments with replication, clustering, or partitioning.
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, extensions and tools.
  • Expertise in SQL query optimization and debugging.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux environments, including shell scripting and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana, or pgAdmin.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize operational tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • PostgreSQL certifications such as PostgreSQL CE or equivalent.
