It's how we stay closely connected to our shared goals and drive swift execution.  The Role As a  Tech Lead (@ HelloFresh called Staff Engineer) for the  Shopping Platform at HelloFresh, you will drive the technical vision and execution for one of the most critical surfaces in our digital customer experience. Your expertise will power the platform layer that enables  shopping, browsing, and personalization experiences across our global brands. As we prepare to scale our menu by 10x and more, you will build the technical backbone for this growth by architecting our core  search, personalization, customer targeting, and engagement systems to perform  at scale . You will serve as a  technical leader and mentor , fostering engineering excellence while collaborating with senior stakeholders to align our technical strategy with business objectives that directly impact customer experience and retention. What you'll do   Lead the architecture, design, and technical strategy for complex microservices systems, establishing patterns and best practices across multiple teams  Drive technical decision-making and architectural reviews, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability of platform systems  Mentor and coach engineers across the organization, fostering technical growth and promoting engineering excellence  Lead critical technical initiatives and cross-team projects, collaborating with engineering leadership and cross-functional partners to align technical strategy with business objectives What you'll bring   8+ years of backend engineering experience with deep expertise in microservices and distributed event-driven architectural patterns  Expert-level proficiency in Go, PHP, and/or JVM languages Proven track record of leading large-scale technical projects and driving architectural decisions in complex distributed systems  Advanced experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures, including production operations at scale Extensive experience building event-driven architectures using message bus technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, etc.)  Deep expertise with database technologies (relational and NoSQL), including performance optimization, schema design, and operational best practices  Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive technical standards across teams  Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with senior stakeholders and distributed teams GraphQL experience for client-backend integration  is a plus What we offer  Health  - You’re covered from your first day with private health insurance Hybrid Working Schedule - We work in-office 4 days a week to align on goals, with flexible hours to support work-life balance and personal needs Holidays  - You receive 26 days of paid vacation each year, providing you time to rest and recharge Learning and Development  - An annual Learning & Development budget and a Mentoring Program to support your ongoing professional growth Employee Referral Program  - Our team members can participate in our internal employee referral program and receive a bonus for recommending successful candidates to open roles Daily Comforts  - Free coffee, drinks, and fresh fruit are available to keep you refreshed throughout the day If you are passionate about making a tangible impact and thrive in a fast-paced environment where your work directly contributes to a global purpose, we encourage you to apply – even if your experience doesn't tick every single box, we believe there are many ways to develop skills and grow with us.
