Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior/Lead Back End Engineer (Ruby) for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Poland.

Our client is an all-in-one practice management platform designed for accountants, CPAs, and tax/bookkeeping firms.

We are looking for a hands-on, growth-oriented Senior Backend Engineer to strengthen our Technical (Foundation) Cluster - the team that builds, transforms and maintains the core services, shared libraries, and internal platforms that keep every product clusters (teams) moving fast and safely.

You will work side-by-side with other senior engineers, EMs, and tech-PMs to design robust architectures, evolve our infrastructure, and make sure engineering fundamentals stay rock-solid as we scale.

Tech stack:

• Backend: Ruby on Rails 7+, PostgreSQL
• Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS
• CI/CD & VCS: Jenkins, GitLab, Bitbucket

REQUIREMENTS

• 5–8 years of professional backend development experience.
• Deep appreciation of how rock-solid foundations accelerate every product team - and the drive to deliver them.
• Proven track record of designing and shipping production systems that serve thousands of users.
• Solid understanding of distributed system fundamentals: data modelling, caching, queues, monitoring, and failure scenarios.
• Comfortable owning features end-to-end — from RFC to production roll-out and post-mortem.
• Clear communicator who can explain trade-offs, listen to feedback, and build consensus.
• Passion for clean, readable code and a pragmatic approach to technical excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own key services and shared components in the cluster: design, develop, and operate them in production.
• Shape architecture together with other senior engineers: break monoliths into well-bounded modules, improve scalability and performance, and keep technical debt under control.
• Raise the bar on code quality and reliability through thoughtful design reviews and well-reasoned refactoring.
• Drive foundational improvements (observability, CI/CD, testing frameworks, security hardening) that make every team faster.
• Collaborate closely with PdM, Staff Engineers and CTO to translate business vision into required technical foundation and realistic milestones.
• Share knowledge: mentor mid-level developers, document best practices, and present learnings at internal tech talks.
• Contribute to hiring and onboarding by taking part in interviews and helping newcomers land smoothly.
