About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join one of our leading Financial Services Clients in Krakow. growing data engineering team within the financial sector. This role is critical to the design, development, and optimisation of large-scale data processing solutions that power key business and regulatory insights.

You will play a strategic role in building scalable and efficient data pipelines using PySpark on distributed computing frameworks, helping us to transform complex financial data into actionable intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance data pipelines and ETL processes using PySpark in a big data environment (e.g., Hadoop, Databricks, or EMR).
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the upskilling of internal teams.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design sessions.
  • Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless deployment and monitoring of data jobs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in data engineering or big data roles, with strong expertise in
    Apache Spark
    using
    PySpark
    .
  • Proven experience in the
    financial services industry
    , particularly in banking, insurance, capital markets, or risk management domains.
  • Deep understanding of distributed computing principles and performance tuning of Spark jobs.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Spark DataFrames.
  • Hands-on experience with big data ecosystems (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, HDFS) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools (e.g., Delta Lake, Snowflake, or Redshift).
  • Knowledge of financial regulations, reporting standards, and data compliance frameworks.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
