Job Title: Database admin (DB2)

Duration: Permanent

Location : Cracow, Poland- Hybrid

• Adhering to SLAs and ensuring database operations meet agreed service levels.
• Handling tickets and requests; troubleshooting advanced database-related technical issues.
• Ensuring that all processes, standards, and best practices are adhered to.
• Responsible for successful completion of installation, configuration, upgrades, and migration of DB2 databases.
• Ensuring maximum uptime according to SLA requirements.
• Improving and maintaining customer and employee satisfaction.
• Implementing new technologies, design changes, and database enhancements.
• Build, manage, and maintain IBM DB2 database servers across all environments, including LUW
• (Linux/Unix/Windows) and z/OS.
• Design and implement redundancy and failover strategies, including high availability (HADR) and
• real-world disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.
• Monitor and tune database performance; advanced knowledge of DB2 configuration settings, buffer
• pools, logging, and memory management.
• Implement security hardening at OS and database instance levels; ensure data encryption at rest
• and in transit.
• Design and implement backup and restoration strategies per data retention requirements; define,
• test, and document disaster recovery scenarios.
• Provide support for software upgrades, fix packs, and patching, including automation of patch
• processes.
• Provide insights to team leadership regarding best practices, optimization, and enterprise DB2
• strategies.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues efficiently, including complex query optimization, deadlock resolution, and storage management.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using one or more modern scripting/automation languages (Ansible, Shell, Python).
• Apply knowledge of database performance, scaling, clustering, and tuning concepts, including workload management and query optimization.
• Experience administering other RDBMS technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle)

• Quickly learn and adapt to new database technologies supported by the team.
• Demonstrate strong technical acumen to ensure solutions, strategies, and practices deliver

business and customer value.

• Perform capacity planning, storage management, and DB2 system monitoring.
• Implement advanced replication, mirroring, and log shipping techniques where required.
• Mentor junior DBAs and provide guidance on complex DB2 topics.

• Excellent communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)
• Good documentation skills
• Should have a good customer handling skill

Other Skills / Experience

• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence will be added advantage.
• Familiarity with Change Management / Incident Management and Problem Management
