Software Engineering Manager, Dataform

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a cross-functional organization.
• Experience in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Python or Go.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum/Kanban/Waterfall).

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

This Software Engineering Manager position is within the Dataform team which is growing in the Google Poland/Warsaw office.

Our mission is to provide code management capabilities for BigQuery (BQ) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) products addressing the needs of Data Engineers and Data Scientists in the area of code management and organisation. We will also provide BQ Studio built-in pipeline capabilities covering the "T" needs of Data Scientists and Data Engineers. We are a product to build a service that is a base for building important BigQuery features including Big Query pipelines.

• Prepare short-term and long-term roadmaps for Dataform service and be responsible for realisation of implementation plans of Dataform product features.
• Possess in-depth technical understanding of product architecture to prioritise tech debt reduction, automation, reliability and engineering excellence efforts.
• Work closely with customers to understand their challenges and requirements.
• Collaborate closely with other teams to ensure technical alignment between efforts and APIs.
• Coach, mentor and help in career development of direct reports whilst fostering a culture of respect, productivity and innovation.
