Data Analyst

About the role

FDM is a global technology consultancy that partners with leading organisations to deliver innovative IT solutions. We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our client within the financial services sector on a 12-month employment contract (with possible extension). This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to strengthening financial crime prevention controls through data analysis, model optimisation, and advanced analytics.

You will join a team focused on the design, review, optimisation, and management of transaction monitoring (TM) models and controls. The team supports multiple business areas, providing exposure to a wide range of financial operations and offering great opportunities for professional growth and skill development.

In this role, you will work with significant amounts of complex data to analyse, simulate, and enhance automated TM controls. You will collaborate closely with business, compliance, and data stakeholders to understand requirements, develop technical designs, and assess control performance. Your analytical insights will directly support initiatives that strengthen financial crime prevention and ensure effective risk mitigation across the organisation.

About you

What we expect:

• At least 3 years' experience as a Data Analyst, preferably within financial crime prevention, risk management, or compliance.
• Strong proficiency in data analysis, statistical modelling, and SQL (experience with Python or R is an advantage).
• Proven ability to work with large and distributed datasets to extract, interpret, and visualise data-driven insights.
• Experience in evaluating and optimising automated monitoring or control systems.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and actionable insights.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing and coordinating across teams.
• Fluent English (both spoken and written).

Desirable:

• Knowledge of transaction monitoring concepts, Above/Below the Line testing, and model validation techniques.
• Familiarity with AML frameworks and regulatory expectations related to financial crime prevention.
• Experience working in large, complex, or international financial institutions or technology-driven environments.
