The Senior Engineering Team Lead is responsible for directing and supporting engineering teams within the Technology Centre of Excellence. This role combines technical leadership, project oversight, and operational management to ensure engineering initiatives align with strategic goals. The position emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development across the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of engineering teams, ensuring tasks are well-distributed and projects are delivered on schedule
  • Evaluate team performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and refine engineering practices
  • Reduce manual processes by implementing automation, monitoring systems, alerting tools, and self-healing mechanisms
  • Maintain the health, availability, security, and reliability of services and infrastructure
  • Serve as the single point of contact for technical issues and troubleshooting
  • Mentor and support team members, encouraging skill development and career growth
  • Resolve conflicts within the team and promote a cooperative, solution-oriented work culture
  • Represent the team in cross-functional meetings, communicating technical updates and challenges
  • Define strategic plans and set measurable goals to guide team performance
  • Present technical insights and recommendations to leadership and collaborate with architects and stakeholders
  • Apply Agile and Scrum practices to drive efficient project execution
  • Monitor engineering workflows to uphold quality standards and implement process enhancements
  • Lead productivity initiatives by streamlining operations and optimizing resource use
  • Address escalations from team members and resolve issues effectively
  • Partner with other engineering groups to solve complex technical problems
  • Strengthen team cohesion through structured team-building efforts
  • Act as a subject matter expert, committed to innovation and engineering excellence
  • Build strong relationships across departments to foster trust and alignment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience, including leadership, project management, and process improvement
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to define long-term engineering goals and execution plans
  • Strong communication skills to support collaboration across teams and departments
  • Experience in conflict resolution and maintaining a constructive team environment
  • Analytical approach to decision-making based on performance data
  • Proven leadership in mentoring and guiding engineering professionals
  • Practical experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Willingness to travel to client sites or other office locations as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
