We are looking for an Operational Support Technician to join our Training Services team in Poland.

What you will be doing

The Training & Simulation business unit develops and manufactures training systems, primarily for military users. We offer a wide range of products and services, including world-leading laser simulators for live training, force-on-target applications, virtual simulations and training services. Training & Simulation operates globally, employing over 650 people in many countries, and we are currently expanding our operations with new training facilities in Poland.

In this role you will use your leadership, knowledge, expertise and technical know-how to contribute to the training support, raising the skills of participants to a higher level and helping to create a safe environment in Europe and beyond.

Your role

In this position, you will work at our training centre in Podkarpackie Province. You will undergo comprehensive training to become an expert in all aspects of the Saab laser simulation system and its wide range of applications and subsystems. This system is critical to providing simulation and training support, and you will play a key role in organising training at the training centre.

You will report directly to the Site Manager, who will work with you at the training centre and have overall responsibility for the delivery of training services. He will also be your liaison with Saab Training & Simulation's headquarters in Huskvarna, Sweden. You will work in a team where each member has specific skills and responsibilities.

As an operational support technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the maintenance, distribution and configuration of all our simulators to provide our customers with the best possible training experience. You must be open, loyal and honest, trust your colleagues and honour agreements, decisions and processes.

This position will be suitable for a high-quality training instructor with a strong analytical approach and the ability to find practical and pragmatic solutions under pressure. Experience in the armed forces is an advantage but not a prerequisite, and some experience in repairing, maintaining and managing technical equipment is highly desirable. In addition, having a licence and skills in operating a drone will be an advantage in this job.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in exercises supporting their participants, providing support to the team and the customer.
  • Troubleshooting, fault detection, maintenance and repair of simulation subsystems, and providing rapid solutions.
  • Using extensive knowledge and understanding of simulation systems to advise customers and optimise their use in training.
  • Training customers and other stakeholders in the use of equipment on demand.
  • Supporting the Site Manager in keeping all equipment in good working order and ensuring its availability as per the contract, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Be prepared to participate in overseas business travels.
  • Maintain all equipment at the facility according to the Site Manager's plan.
  • Participate in pre-exercise and reconnaissance planning meetings, advising on all aspects of simulator functionality.
  • Performing appropriate technical work prior to trainings, including preparation and configuration of the simulator.
  • Assist with general tasks as required by the Site Manager.
  • Support Saab's marketing activities as required.
  • Provide information needed to evaluate team members' performance as required.
  • Provide maximum support for other Saab activities as required.
Skills and experience
  • Analytical IT and technical skills enabling the identification of faults in simulation systems and their effective repair.

  • Strong technical interest and ability to analyse problems and quickly find solutions that will ensure the continuity of our simulation systems.

  • Strong motivation and action-oriented attitude, with an emphasis on task completion.

  • Fluent spoken and written English.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Category B driving licence (B+E preferred)

  • Experience in the armed forces is an advantage but not a prerequisite.

  • Experience in repair, maintenance and management of technical equipment is highly desirable.

  • Possession of a licence and skills in operating a drone will be an additional advantage in this job.

This position requires the candidate to undergo a company security check in accordance with the company's security regulations.
