Description
Our client is concerned with excessive charging attributed to the Databricks Lakehouse environment. GlobalLogic carried out a review of the Databricks environment and made a number of recommendations. Client would now like to implement some of the recommendations. These will be delivered in two workstreams:

Databricks Environment Changes – changes which can be made to Databricks environment setup including data deletion and control of instances

Pipeline Rebuild POC – to understand the cost impact of some specific changes (e.g. used of SCD Type 2 vs. Type 1), rebuild one of the data pipelines to quantify the effect of these changes and then extrapolate across other pipelines

Requirements
2+ years of experience

Proficient in Spark, SQL, and Python.

Can work under the Senior DE's guidance to execute refactoring tasks, build testing harnesses, and manage data validation.

Familiar with data modeling concepts and eager to apply new governance guardrails.

Job responsibilities

• Assists in development and testing of the optimised Silver Claims pipeline under the direction of the Senior Data Engineer.
• Executes unit and integration tests to confirm data accuracy and performance compliance.
• Supports monitoring setup and logging for comparative cost analysis.
• Contributes to build documentation, tagging conventions, and cost-tracking dashboards.
• Participates in knowledge transfer sessions and provides input to the Cost Savings Analysis Report.
