The Data Engineering team is part of Cloud Technology Group, which delivers cutting-edge cloud and edge networking solutions to the market. We design, implement, deploy and operate data streaming platforms with a primary mission to enable product teams to develop high-performing operationally safe and secure products in an agile manner.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead and mentor multiple engineering teams while shaping platform architecture and strategy. You will define engineering best practices and lead development of DevOps tools ensuring 100% availability and ultra-high performance for data streaming platforms.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Architecting and overseeing the delivery of highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and performant systems across complex projects as well as contributing to themLeading integration and enhancement of data streaming services on Akamai Platform with an emphasis on large-scale performance analyticsDirecting development of next-generation DevOps automation tools to optimize delivery pipelines and operational excellenceDriving automation initiatives to achieve operational workflows, minimizing manual interventionsEstablishing enterprise-level observability and monitoring frameworks to drive proactive system insights and continuous improvementsDo what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
Have relevant experience and a Masters diploma in Computer Science or another related field or its equivalentHave experience (+12) in software development with Golang, Python, C/C++, or Java (at least 3), demonstrating mastery in multiple languages and complex codebasesHave deep expertise (+10) with distributed systems architecture, Linux networking, TCP/IP, SSH, SSL, HTTP protocols, including designing for extreme scalability and reliabilityHave advanced experience (+8) in DevOps practices and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Helm, Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, with ability to architect and optimize enterprise-wide deployment pipelinesHave extensive experience (+8) with Observability, Performance Analytics, Security tools like Prometheus and DataDog, including building custom monitoring solutions at scaleHave practical experience with big data platforms like Hadoop and Spark; expert-level design principles for handling massive data sets and streaming pipelinesHave expert-level skills in bash scripting, SQL, REST API design, and troubleshooting complex, large-scale, high-availability production environmentsWork in a way that works for you
