Goldman Sachs' Risk Division develops comprehensive programs and processes to identify, monitor, assess and manage financial and non-financial risks in support of the firm's risk appetite statement and strategic business plans. Division/Business

Credit Risk (CR) is responsible for managing the firm's credit exposure to its trading and lending counterparties. Leveraging its extensive expertise in financial, credit and risk analysis, CR ensures that credit exposure to our counterparties is managed within the firm's risk appetite. Staffed with more than 270 professionals, CR operates through 12 different offices around the world and credit professionals work closely with many areas of the firm. CR professionals gain diverse financial experience and a broad perspective on how the entire firm functions. The interaction with numerous departments and the range of projects that ensue allow for a challenging, varied and multi-dimensional work environment. 

THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Credit Risk Internal Credit Ratings (ICR) Governance Team Overview

The Credit Risk ICR Governance Team is a cross-industry global team with central oversight of the Internal Credit Ratings (ICR) system and procedures. The Team's focus is to ensure rating framework consistency, transparency, repeatability and adherence to internal Credit Risk Policies, Procedures, and Standards as well as global and regional (i.e. European) regulatory requirements. 

ICR Governance Team is responsible for supporting development and/or enhancement of industry specific ICR models and methodologies used for both underwriting and on-going portfolio monitoring, working closely with industry subject matter experts. Industries include but are not limited to Corporates, Financial Institutions, Commercial Real Estate, Investment Funds, and Structured Finance. 

The Team plays a pivotal role in overseeing the firm's rating system and compliance with advanced European banking regulations including a focus on Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR) concerning the Internal Ratings Based (IRB) approach for non-retail credit exposures. The Team drives the interpretation of CRR rules related to Rating System, to ensure their implementation is IRB compliant.In addition, the Team provides data analytics in support of ratings to Credit Risk leadership through on-going monitoring and controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the continuous enhancement of industry-specific ICR models and methodologies to align with evolving regulatory expectations and best practices for IRB approaches, collaborating closely with industry subject matter experts, quantitative model developers, and regulatory affairs teams.
  • Design and report on aspects of Credit Risk's ICR framework via the development of templates, standards, guidelines, and key performance indicators to senior management and governance committees.
  • Develop and oversee cross-industry ICR methodologies & review frameworks, including related system enhancements and training
  • Own RCSA program deliverables related to ICRs including action plans, control monitoring, and control evaluation.
  • Coordinate the review of new and evolving global regulatory requirements applicable to Internal Risk Ratings frameworks to ensure compliance.
  • Lead and participate in EMEA specific and global regulatory engagement on Credit Risk's ICR system and procedures.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Preferred 10+ years experience in risk governance, credit risk management, or underwriting. Familiarity with policy implementation and change management is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services governance, including the audit and regulatory landscape (e.g., Capital Requirements Regulation).
  • Proven track record navigating complex regulatory landscapes and leading initiatives related to the implementation or enhancements of IRB approaches for non-retail credit exposures 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, particularly with members of senior management. Ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messaging.
  • Ability to perform independently, organized, and flexible.
  • Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team oriented.
  • Proficient to advanced skills with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to navigate large data sets, develop metrics and perform analysis is a plus..
