Join our Data Science SRE team.
Our team uses large datasets to analyze and measure the performance and reliability of our platform. We are networking data scientists, we combine our knowledge of data analysis, networking and distributed systems. We define key performance indicators, determine how different factors impact them. In addition, our team develops new forecast and early warning systems.

Partner with the best
You'll apply statistical data analysis, together with cutting edge machine learning and an understanding of networking protocols. Diagnosing and solving some of the Internet's most difficult content delivery challenges. You'll work with cross-functional teams to understand and measure the performance and reliability of our platform. Note: this is not a QA, DevOps or Operations role.

As a Site Reliability Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Applying analytical skills and statistical insights to identify performance bottlenecks and reliability challenges and propose solutions.
• Developing new tools to diagnose problems faster and in a more independent manner.
• Defining, implementing and mining data feeds drawn from Akamai internal sources in order to produce insights.
• Influencing company decision-making at the highest levels and identifying areas for new technology investments.
• Partnering with Engineering, Operations and Product teams to help guide adoption of new features and processes.
• Building software tools and systems to automate analytical tasks and workflows to increase efficiency and reliability.

Do What You Love
To be successful in this role you will:

• Have academic or industrial experience and PhD or master's degree in computer science or another quantitative field.
• Have an analytical background with experience in statistical data analysis.
• Demonstrate experience with coding in one or more of the following languages (python, Java, C/C++).
• Possess experience with Internet protocols (DNS/HTTP/TLS/TCP).
• Have an understanding of Machine Learning algorithms.
• Have excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to articulate technical information in an easy-to-understand manner.
