Senior Service Engineer/Superintendent Propulsion

We are looking for a Senior Service Engineer/Superintendent Propulsion with a main responsibility in executing Field Service activities in alignment with Wärtsilä's quality standards.

The preferred location for this position is Gdansk, but we warmly welcome applicants from anywhere in Poland - location is flexible 

Your role and responsibilities  

As a Senior Service Engineer/Superintendent Propulsion, you will provide technical expertise to our customers, ensuring their satisfaction and the successful completion of service projects. This role requires a strong Field Service mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. 

As a Senior Service Engineer/Superintendent Propulsion you will focus on these responsibilities:

• Execute Field Service activities for propulsion systems, ensuring compliance with Wärtsilä quality standards.
• Provide technical expertise and support to customers, ensuring their satisfaction and resolving technical issues.
• Perform mechanical maintenance and overhauls on propulsion products, including FPP, CPP, Gearbox, Transverse Thruster, Azimuth Thruster, and WaterJet systems.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and investigate propulsion equipment to identify and resolve issues.
• Execute warranty tasks and supervise propulsion equipment during newbuilding projects.
• Perform system upgrades for propulsion control systems.
• Supervise and execute warranty and field service activities, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
• Prepare detailed service work reports and documentation for internal and customer use.
• Communicate effectively with Wärtsilä Field Service stakeholders and customers to provide updates and technical insights.
• Independently organize and coordinate work, including shipyard activities, to ensure project success.

Requirements for the position  

• Diploma or BSc degree in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical & Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Proven experience working with engine and propulsion systems, ideally with a Field Service or Marine Engineer background.
• Several years of independent experience with the following propulsion products:
  • Fixed Pitch Propellers (FPP)
  • Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP)
  • Gearboxes
  • Transverse Thrusters
  • Azimuth Thrusters
  • WaterJet systems
• Strong mechanical maintenance and overhauling skills for propulsion products.
• Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and investigation of propulsion equipment.
• Familiarity with executing warranty tasks and supervising newbuilding projects.
• Ability to perform system upgrades for propulsion control systems.
• High level of independence in organizing work and coordinating shipyard activities.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Fluency in Polish (both written and spoken).
• Willingness and ability to travel globally for service jobs, up to 80%, depending on shipyard service needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in propulsion Field Service is a strong advantage.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and internal teams.
