Description & Requirements

Who we are looking for

For our fast-growing Cloud & Engineering practice in Central Europe we are looking for passionate Senior API Gateway Engineer with Kong experience to join Deloitte Central Europe Cloud Integration team, where you will deliver state-of-the-art integration solutions for our clients.

Key requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working in API management, integration, or platform engineering roles
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kong Gateway (must have)
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture
  • Experience with authentication & authorization protocols (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT)
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience in Linux environments and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog)

Your future role

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Kong API Gateway solutions in cloud or hybrid environments
  • Develop and configure plugins, routing rules, authentication and authorization flows, rate-limiting, d monitoring functionalities
  • Work closely with development teams to standardize API design guidelines and best practices
  • Implement API lifecycle management, governance, and documentation
  • Integrate Kong with identity management and SSO platforms (e.g., Keycloak, Okta, Azure AD)
  • Support CI/CD automation for API deployments and configuration updates
  • Monitor and troubleshoot performance, latency, and gateway reliability issues
  • Advocate for secure, scalable, and reusable integration patterns across the organization
  • Working closely with other engineers to integrate backend systems.
