Description
Our client is concerned with excessive charging attributed to the Databricks Lakehouse environment. GlobalLogic carried out a review of the Databricks environment and made a number of recommendations. Client would now like to implement some of the recommendations. These will be delivered in two workstreams:

Databricks Environment Changes – changes which can be made to Databricks environment setup including data deletion and control of instances

Pipeline Rebuild POC – to understand the cost impact of some specific changes (e.g. used of SCD Type 2 vs. Type 1), rebuild one of the data pipelines to quantify the effect of these changes and then extrapolate across other pipelines

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in data engineering
• Strong engineer proficient in SQL & python
• Good understanding of cloud data warehouse concepts and administration

Job responsibilities

• Supports data review and cleansing activities across Databricks workspaces.
• Implements agreed data deletion, archival, and replication-control processes under guidance from the Senior Databricks Administrator.
• Develops and validates scripts, jobs, and automation to enforce data-retention and cluster-usage policies.
• Monitors and documents cost-impact results of implemented changes for inclusion in the Workstream 1 Cost Savings Report.
• Provides technical input during stakeholder reviews and supports preparation of handover documentation.
