Senior Java Engineer with Data

Join our team as a Senior Java Developer and play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing the core components that power large-scale, data-intensive workloads. You will own critical parts of our distributed execution, storage, and data service layers — driving low latency, high throughput, and cost-efficient solutions.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with data engineers, data scientists, architects, and product owners to deliver robust, observable, and operable systems. Your work will enable reliable ingestion, processing, and serving of data across the organization, fueling insights and innovation while maintaining efficiency and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain robust large-scale data processing and analytics solutions
• Optimize ETL pipelines for handling diverse data types
• Enhance system reliability using observability frameworks
• Leverage distributed computing, storage, and streaming services to achieve scalable solutions
• Improve performance-critical data operations like serialization, scheduling, and caching
• Apply columnar and binary formats (Parquet, ORC, Arrow) for efficient data processing
• Tune and profile JVM performance using tools such as JFR/JMC and GC tuning
• Support DevOps workflows, including CI/CD automation and containerized deployments with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure DevOps
• Review code, develop automated tests, and ensure strong documentation practices
• Guide junior engineers and uphold high engineering standards

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, emphasizing data-intensive systems
• Knowledge of Java and other JVM-based technologies
• Background in using the JMH Framework
• Skills in SQL and time-series databases such as InfluxDB and Redis
• Proficiency in containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes and familiarity with Azure Cloud
• Competency in DevOps practices and Linux system administration
• Expertise in concurrency, parallelism, and optimizing performance for data pipelines

Nice to have

• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk
• Background in Python, Kotlin, or additional JVM-based technologies
• Databricks certification
