Video Journalist

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Video Journalist to join our video production team. The ideal

candidate will have a strong understanding of current events, excellent storytelling skills, and the

ability to craft compelling scripts for 2-3 minute newsbyte videos. This role requires a creative

individual who thrives under deadlines, possesses strong technical knowledge of video production,

and can translate news into engaging visual content. The candidate needs to able to think on his

feet, be adept to changing news developments and comply with tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

News Research & Analysis

• Monitor daily news developments, breaking news, and trending topics as per client

guidelines.

• Research and verify facts to ensure accuracy and credibility of stories.

• Collaborate with video production team for swift output.

Story Development

• Conceptualize engaging and concise video story ideas based on editorial priorities.

• Develop scripts for 2-3 minute newsbytes, ensuring clarity, brevity, and impact.

• Identify key elements for video storytelling, including interviews, sound bites, and visuals.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with the video production team to align stories with editorial tone and goals.

• Liaise with video creators to produce polished content.

Content Presentation

• Deliver scripts and videos ready for digital distribution.

• Adapt content for multiple platforms, including social media, if required.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Preferably having a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or

related field.

Proven experience (min.2+ years) as a video journalist, video producer, or related role in

television or digital media.

Skills:

• Mandatory exposure in handling AI-assisted video editing tools.

• Knowledge of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).

• Proven expertise in creating AI generated content/script using tools like ChatGPT, Claude,

Gemini.

• Strong journalistic instincts with the ability to identify impactful stories.

• Excellent scriptwriting, grammatical skills to create scripts for short, engaging video

formats.

• Familiarity with newsroom operations and tight deadlines.
