As Internal Controls Financial SME for IG entities, you are part of a dynamic finance function within a large and global financial group. You will design and strengthen the controls framework that ensures IG entities meet their financial, tax, regulatory, and compliance obligations. Your work will enhance control procedures across local and overseas offices, supporting the organization's commitment to operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

The Internal Controls Financial SME is responsible for the controls framework within their designated area. This role is responsible for designing and implementing controls to ensure global and local accounting standards and policies are executed in a timely and efficient manner. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on control execution and compliance with applicable frameworks.

• Design, implement, and maintain the financial controls framework and procedures across IG Group entities to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting in compliance with IFRS standards, Group Policies, and regulatory requirements
• Perform controls testing, monitoring, and effectiveness reviews to identify control gaps, recommend enhancements, and support remediation of audit findings
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities, including preparation of audit documentation, management of audit queries, and oversight of regulatory inquiries
• Develop and conduct control effectiveness assessments, monitor compliance with the control framework, and drive remediation of control weaknesses
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (finance operations, Risk and Compliance, business teams) to embed controls within processes and support control environment maturity
• The role requires strong collaboration and the ability to drive operational efficiency while maintaining rigorous internal controls.

Key Qualification Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in internal controls, audit (controls testing, remediation), or financial accounting with a strong controls focus
• Educational background in finance and accounting; professional qualifications (ACCA, ACA, CPA) or progress towards them would be advantageous
• Strong understanding of internal controls frameworks, control design principles, and controls testing methodologies; ability to identify control gaps, assess risks, and design appropriate mitigating controls
• Solid knowledge of accounting standards, financial processes, and associated control objectives; experience coordinating internal and/or external audits, including audit preparation and findings remediation
• Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with finance and non-finance colleagues, stakeholders, and auditors on control and compliance matters
