The New archive platform (NAP) team are now looking for a Java software engineer (senior).  We are interviewing only within BEC for this position

WHAT'S THE ROLE ABOUT?

The New Archive Platform (NAP) team owns the archiving of all documents in BEC and is on an important mission to replace the existing archive with a new modern SaaS solution.

Primary task and responsibilities include:

  • Design and build APIs and microservices in Java (Java 17 and 8) with Spring Boot, REST, and Maven, containerized on OpenShift/Kubernetes.
  • Develop event-driven components using Kafka and follow microservice and EDA best practices.
  • Integrate a commercial SaaS archiving solution with existing BEC systems across mainframe and distributed applications.
  • Collaborate in an agile team: share knowledge, participate in code reviews, and work with Jira, Git, ServiceNow and Confluence.
  • Maintain and modernize a legacy Java web component (currently Java 5 with EJB/JSP) and support migration plans.
  • Work closely with business architects and stakeholders in the Documents Cluster to deliver reliable, secure solutions.
  • Occasional travel to Roskilde, Denmark to meet teammates and stakeholders.

To succeed you will have:

  • Several years of ands-on experience with Java 8/17, REST, Spring Boot, and Maven.
  • Experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, and microservices.
  • Familiarity with integrating COTS/SaaS solutions into complex enterprise environments (mainframe and distributed).
  • Comfort with team tooling: Jira for issue tracking, Git for code collaboration, and Confluence/Wiki for documentation.
  • An agile mindset, including translating feature descriptions into user stories and iterative delivery.
  • A positive and supportive, cooperative approach; ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking ownership and involving the right colleagues.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (preferred)

It's nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of the financial sector (nice to have)
  • Experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes operations and observability.
  • Background in document archiving systems or document management platforms.
  • Exposure to modernization projects (e.g., migrating legacy Java/EJB/JSP applications).
  • Polish or Danish language skills (optional).
