You're a seasoned Senior DevOps Engineer who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about building resilient, observable, and automated systems. You enjoy leading teams, driving operational excellence, and implementing DevOps best practices across diverse technology stacks.

We'd love to hear from you if you bring:

  • Proven experience in leading DevOps or SRE teams and establishing scalable processes.
  • Deep expertise in Windows systems administration, especially with ASP.NET/.NET Core apps on IIS.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix, Tomcat, networking, and RDBMS (Oracle/MSSQL).
  • Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Kubernetes/OpenShift) and observability tools.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps and SRE principles, including automation, incident response, and performance optimization.
You'll get extra points for...
  • Leading DevOps efforts for new platforms or applications.
  • Experience with Agile platforms and rapid scaling.
  • Familiarity with ELK stack, Prometheus + Grafana, and enterprise scheduling tools (TWSd, UAC).
  • Scripting in Python, automation with Ansible, and infrastructure as code (Terraform/Pulumi).
  • Applying DevOps/SRE practices to front-office banking processes.
  • Holding an MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Demonstrating Agile Ways of Working and staying ahead of tech trends.
  • Having completed leadership and management training.
  • Living the Orange Code: proactive, collaborative, and forward-thinking.
Your responsibilities

As our Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll:

  • Monitor & troubleshoot production systems, proactively resolving issues and improving reliability.
  • Lead and mentor a growing team across multiple locations.
  • Drive observability, incident/problem management, and root cause analysis.
  • Plan capacity and assess system health to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage SLAs, holding teams accountable for service quality.
  • Ensure IT control compliance, supporting audits with evidence.
  • Automate operations using bots and runners to streamline infrastructure tasks.
  • Coordinate disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Generate production reports on availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Occasionally respond to business service requests, such as backup restores.

You'll be joining a growing tribe focused on enhancing reliability across ING's critical applications. The squad is distributed across multiple locations and works closely with BizDevOps teams, IT Engineering, Security, and Architecture. The team is in a maturing phase, offering a unique opportunity to shape its direction, improve observability, and implement robust SRE practices. Collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.
