Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Staff Digital Design Engineer who will be part of SoC Design team. Your primary focus will be working on IP and SoC Design. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Digital Engineering.

Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties

  • Executes the technical specification, logic design, synthesis, and integration of circuits in the next generation of Synaptics family of high-speed serial interface devices
  • Develop RTL for module and chip-level designs in Verilog hardware design language, python/make/TCL scripts, and proprietary hardware specification languages
  • Analyze designs and integrate them into Synaptics ASIC & FPGA development environment by writing scripts, using proprietary tools and using other vendor-supplied CAD tools
  • Work with the verification team to write test plans and debug simulations
  • Participate in silicon debug and analysis
  • Schedule tasks and goals to complete designs on time that meet all specifications

Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in Verilog
  • Knowledge of System Verilog and C / C++ an advantage
  • Proficiency in scripting languages including Python, Perl, or TCL
  • Understanding of industry-standard protocols such as AMBA, SPI, I2C and USB
  • Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
  • Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
  • Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through practical use of technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly
  • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse cross-functional team

Qualifications (Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent
  • 8+ years or equivalent of relevant experience in SoC verification
  • Experience developing digital design components for ASIC & FPGA design
  • Hands on experience using industry standard simulation & debugging tools i.e. Questa/VCS and Verdi etc.
  • No travel required
