About The Role
The Biz Ops team is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). Biz Ops is responsible for production readiness of Mastercard products, ensuring platform stability and health. As an SRE, you will empower developers to build resilient products, support operational design, automation, capacity planning, and monitoring. You help set and enforce operational standards and foster an agile, learning culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of Mastercard applications.
• Support daily operations with a focus on triage, root cause analysis, and blameless post-mortems.
• Engage early in the development lifecycle to proactively manage production and change activities.
• Manage risk, compliance, and security across all environments.
• Align product and customer priorities with operational needs through continuous feedback.

Mastercard Processing enables seamless, secure, and reliable payment transactions globally. It provides comprehensive solutions for transaction authorization, clearing, settlement, and fraud management, supporting various payment types and ensuring compliance with global and local regulations. Role Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field (e.g., physics, mathematics) or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Way4/OpenWay applications, Oracle/Postgres databases, and financial industry systems.
• Designing, building, and operating large-scale, distributed systems.
• Appetite for change, curiosity about new technologies and automation.
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design.
• Systematic problem-solving, analytical skills, strong communication, ownership, and drive.
• Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale systems.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Passion for observability, automation, and continuous improvement.

Team Specific Skills
ITSM Practices

• Analyze ITSM activities (Incident, Change, Problem, Service Request Management).
• Provide feedback to development teams on operational gaps and resiliency concerns.

Site Reliability Engineering

• Design and implement reliable, scalable infrastructure.
• Perform root cause analysis and collaborate with development teams.
• Stay updated on SRE and cloud computing trends.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents.
• End-to-end run ownership of products.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortems.
• Automate data-driven alerts and work with development teams to establish SLOs and improve reliability.

Operating Systems and Environment Management

• Proficient in Linux (CLI, directory structure, permissions), process management, resource monitoring (top, htop, vmstat, iostat).
• Basic Windows administration, shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell).
• Ability to create scripts (Bash, Ansible, Python, Perl).
• Manage Linux and Windows instances, create technical documentation.

Log Analysis and Processing

• Search, filter, sort, aggregate, and process logs (grep, awk, sed).
• Event correlation in application and system logs.

Networking and Protocols

• Network traffic analysis (tcpdump, netstat).
• Understanding TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancers.
• Protocols and API design patterns (TCP, HTTP, TLS, JSON, MTLS, oAuth2).
• High availability and resilience concepts (clustering, failover, scaling).
• F5 load balancer configuration.

DevOps and CI/CD Tools

• Git (repository management, conflict resolution).
• Jenkins (job management).
• Automation and provisioning (Ansible, Chef, Terraform).
• Data search and analysis (Splunk).
• Monitoring tools (Zabbix, Grafana, Dynatrace).
• Documentation tools (Confluence).
