Join us as a Manager in Client Service & Fund Accounting Team in Alternative Investments (Assistant Vice President)

Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting a Manager in Client Service and Fund Accounting to join our Alternative Investments department in the Client Service and Fund Accounting Team. In this role you will be working closely with Assistant Department Head and supervise team of financial professionals (10+ members). As part of the duties, you will be responsible of monitoring the NAV reporting process and ensuring accuracy and timeliness are met for all the Clients deliverables. As a member of management team, you will devise and participate in internal and cross office projects to improve the efficiency and quality of the department’s work. You will be a part of the unique team which has insight into end-to-end process and contributes to production of final deliverables for the clients. As a manager, you will be responsible for all aspects relating to people management like coaching, development and retention.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the team to ensure appropriate quality of monthly/quarterly/annual deliverables such as Net Asset Value reporting pack and supporting reports, with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements within assigned portfolio of clients.
  • Monitoring and managing the team to ensure quality of fund’s activities and transactions booked in the accounting system.
  • Developing and maintaining familiarity with key funds` documents, applicable laws, regulations and interpretations governing accounting framework.
  • Second level review of work prepared by team members to ensure accuracy, timeliness and completeness of deliverables.
  • Overseeing communication with clients, auditors, tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate responses to any queries, acting as an escalation point of client contact for allocated clients 
  • Ensuring timely and accurate responses to any queries.
  • Developing and maintaining strong familiarity with accounting standards (i.e. Lux GAAP).
  • Coaching and developing team members, providing feedback via periodic meetings and engage in the performance appraisal process.
  • Promotion of positive team atmosphere through leadership, effective communication and professionalism.
  • Maintaining solid working relationships with other areas within BBH Krakow office and across the Firm globally.
  • Lead and participate in special projects to improve efficiency, quality and accuracy of work performed by the team.
  • Ensuring adherence to all established procedures, best practices and internal controls.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in fund accounting and financial reporting for investment funds.
  • Primary degree in a finance or accounting related discipline, and/or equivalent work experience is an asset.
  • A strong understanding of fund accounting practices and general accounting standards.
  • Professional accountancy qualification e.g. ACCA, CIMA or CFA (qualified or part qualified) is an advantage.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong experience in managing, mentoring and coaching staff.
  • Highly organized, detail orientated and self-motivated.
  • Pro-active, mature and able to work with respect to the previously agreed timeline.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit who is confident working with limited direct supervision.
  • Computer literate with strong Excel skills.
  • Fluency in English.
