Ardigen is looking for a Medicinal Chemistry Lead, who will support the team responsible for the discovery and application of computational chemistry and artificial intelligence in modern drug discovery. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and accelerating medicinal chemistry and digital initiatives that impact Ardigen strategic expansion. The role will be a core member of the Biomedical Imaging Unit Team bringing novel solutions in modern drug discovery. Medicinal Chemistry Lead will be responsible for proposing and executing new medicinal chemistry ideas and solutions spanning from hit ID to preclinical development.

Key responsibilities

  • Proposes, executes and delivers medicinal chemistry strategy to invent innovative AI-driven drug discovery products and services
  • Acts as a key expert in medicinal chemistry and associated drug discovery activities across teams
  • Directly manages chemistry team and effectively partners with the other teams (machine learning engineers, cheminformaticians, software developers, biologists, bioinformaticians) to build and advance product portfolio
  • Provides scientific leadership across functions and integrates effective team collaboration to ensure that medicinal chemistry efforts are aligned with overall product vision, teams priorities, resourcing and tactics
  • Determines methods and procedures for effective initiative delivery
  • Actively contributes to interactions with external partners (pharma, biotech, academic) supporting scientific and business activities (data reviews, summaries presentations)
  • Collects data, analyzes, reports and presents at project meetings and to senior management

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in medicinal chemistry (PhD preferred) or relevant equivalent experience in drug discovery from the early stage to preclinical development
  • Several years of industry experience with demonstrated record of accomplishment in leading and successfully completing medicinal chemistry projects, preferably in oncology or inflammation areas
  • Experience in early stage drug discovery with focus on hit ID: HTS and phenotypic drug discovery process, rational library design with desired properties is a must
  • Understanding computational drug discovery process including ligand-, fragment- and structure-based drug design, library design, virtual screening, chemoinformatics, predictive and generative chemistry is a strong advantage
  • Understanding of relevant ADME/DMPK aspects and proven track record in optimization of selected compounds properties in these areas
  • Strong experience in management, engaging and communicating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to have robust discussions with key stakeholders to ensure that project, scientific and resource demands are aligned
