We are pioneering a new standard for healthier, safer, and more resilient built environments, while enhancing the cold chain to optimize the process of securely transporting and storing food and essential medical supplies.The Principal Data Engineer / Technical Lead will play a vital role in designing and ensuring compliance with the design of multiple global digital products under development within Carrier Digital. This position involves working on a variety of hardware and software products crucial to Carrier's ongoing business expansion. As a Technical Value Stream Lead, you will serve as the technical and functional head of one or more scrum teams, entrusted with addressing complex business and technological challenges, from strategy to implementation.About This RoleYou will tackle challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative delivery environment. Possessing a deep technological expertise and a collaborative approach that involves others in the decision-making process without impeding progress is essential in this engineering leadership role. This position will significantly influence the technology roadmap within the organization and craft clear strategies to implement next-generation tech solutions across a global enterprise.

  • Ownership, maintenance, support, and optimization of Data Warehouse in a large multi-tenant architecture using AWS Redshift and other AWS Data Pipeline & Ingestion services
  • Data Modeling, ETL and/or ELT for complex large IoT, Operational Behavioral, and Meta Data
  • Handling Data Warehouse security issues, monitoring, workload management, query optimization, and HA/DR for the RedShift clusters
  • Managing Data Warehouse: Automation, Monitoring, Data Governance & Compliance, Scalability, and Cost Management
  • Supporting all phases of Analytics & Insights Value Stream projects in collaboration with multifunctional leaders, stakeholders, contributors, and customers
  • Driving development principles, best practices, and quality standards within engineering production to mitigate risks, issues, and defects of platform service offerings
  • Collaborating with Product and other key stakeholders to define project scopes, requirements, and manage engineering team's technical execution and commitments using Agile/Scrum best practices
  • Conceptualizing solutions, creating secure design requirements, implementing necessary modules and solutions for feature and function development, and promoting new product innovation
  • Providing technical leadership, mentorship, and training
  • Offering timely and expert support to resolve complex problems and issues
  • Collaborating with technical writers to create documentation for developers, consumers, and customers
  • Communicating with other TVSLs to design solutions aligned with the overarching goal
Required Qualifications
  • 6-10+ years of hands-on, enterprise-level, professional software development experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on cloud system design and architecture development and delivery experience
  • 5+ years of system design and architecture experience
  • 3+ years of engineering/development team leadership experience (Team Lead, Eng. Mgr, or similar)
  • 2+ years of distributed engineering team leadership experience
  • Willingness to travel for quarterly team alignment and planning
  • Conducting architecture reviews, cybersecurity reviews, code reviews, and providing technical feedback and guidance
  • Thorough understanding of hardware/embedded/middleware/software development life cycle, from customer needs to product release, is essential. Hands-on experience with development tools & dev-ops is required
  • Proficiency in developing, maintaining reusable software services, infrastructure for promoting service/component/library reuse
  • In-depth knowledge of opensource software development tools and methodology
  • Proven ability and hands-on experience in developing modern, cloud-native, IaC software technologies for industrial, enterprise-grade platform products and services
  • Expertise in developing and deploying solutions in a serverless AWS environment. Proficiency with other cloud development platforms is advantageous
  • Capability to analyze software services for potential reuse
Preferred Qualifications
  • Comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture, cloud native patterns, and cloud computing capabilities, especially as provided by AWS, including Timestream, Glue, Apache Spark, DataBricks, and DynamoDB
  • Experience in dashboard and report development with big data, ideally leveraging Sisense or a similar platform
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Cloud Computing technologies, scripting languages, integrating 3rd party monitoring tools, encryption tools, cybersecurity best practices, and forensics
  • Implementation background with AWS Redshift, Graph data stores, Event-Driven Architecture, and IoT projects generating revenue
  • Experience with deployment orchestration, automation, and security configuration management tools (CircleCI, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.)
  • Strong skills and experience in Analytics Cloud migration and implementation, AWS services related to analytics, AI/ML, CI/CD
  • Expertise in developing highly scalable applications using service-oriented, microservice, and/or RESTful architectures
  • Proficiency with database technologies
  • Experience with EMR, Hadoop, HIVE, S3, etc.
  • Proficiency in managing and optimizing Big Data / Hadoop clusters
  • Designing for failover, high availability, MTTR, MTTF, and MTBF
  • Experience in designing and implementing automated backup and restoration of application/web servers/databases/data lakes
  • Expertise in networking, including security analysis, firewall configuration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Experience with container technologies (AWS – ECS/EKS/Fargate, Kubernetes, etc.) as well as AWS serverless technologies and architecture patterns
  • Proficiency in utilizing AWS Key management systems (KMS)
  • Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or above in computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or equivalent professional experience. Ideal candidates will possess postgraduate degrees or equivalent professional experience
