About the role

The Maintenance Team Leader in a production setting is responsible for leading and supervising a team of maintenance technicians to ensure the effective and efficient operation and maintenance of production equipment and facilities. This role involves overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, managing work orders, coordinating with other departments, and promoting a safe working environment. The Maintenance Team Leader plays a critical role in maximizing equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting smooth production operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:

· Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for production equipment and facilities.

· Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize production disruptions.

· Oversee the timely execution of corrective maintenance tasks to address equipment breakdowns or malfunctions.

2. Equipment Reliability and Optimization:

· Monitor equipment performance, analyse data, and identify potential issues or areas for improvement.

· Implement reliability-centered maintenance strategies to optimize equipment uptime and lifespan.

· Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and implement equipment upgrades or modifications.

3. Work Order Management:

· Receive, review, and prioritize work orders for maintenance tasks.

· Assign tasks to appropriate technicians, ensuring workload distribution and resource optimization.

· Track work order status, update maintenance records, and generate reports as necessary.

4. Project Management:

· Plan, execute, and oversee maintenance projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, budgeting, and procurement.

· Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.

· Utilize project management tools and methodologies to track progress and make adjustments as

necessary.

5. Spare Parts and Inventory Management:

· Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the availability of necessary spare parts and materials.

· Monitor inventory levels, track usage, and initiate replenishment as needed.

· Optimize inventory management practices to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.

6. Health and Safety:

· Promote a safety culture and enforce compliance with safety policies and procedures.

· Conduct safety inspections and address any identified hazards or risks.

· Provide training on safe maintenance practices and ensure adherence to relevant regulations.

7. Continuous Improvement:

· Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction within the maintenance function.

· Implement and monitor improvement initiatives, such as predictive maintenance techniques or automation solutions.

· Encourage and facilitate the sharing of best practices and knowledge among maintenance team members.

8. Communication and Collaboration:

· Liaise with production, engineering, and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize downtime.

· Communicate maintenance schedules, updates, and equipment availability to relevant stakeholders.

· Collaborate with external vendors and contractors as needed for specialized maintenance tasks or services.

9. Team Leadership and Supervision:

· Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians.

· Assign work orders, prioritize tasks, and monitor progress.

· Provide guidance, training, and support to enhance technical skills and performance.

Qualifications & Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications and licenses are a plus.

· Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor or a similar role in a production or manufacturing

environment.

· Strong technical knowledge of production equipment, machinery, and systems.

· Proficiency in preventive and corrective maintenance practices and techniques.

· Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or maintenance software.

· Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in maintenance operations.

· Upper-Intermediate level of verbal and written English (B2).

· Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

· Familiarity with MS Office suite.
