Senior Payroll Specialist

Hybrid work

The Senior Payroll Specialist will oversee payroll coordination for Alexion and AZ entities through external providers, focusing on streamlining and enhancing payroll processes whilst ensuring compliance with local labor laws. Responsibilities include contributions to year-end payroll closures and payroll audit coordination.

What you will do:

  • Process monthly payrolls within the payroll cycles.
  • Prepare and provide monthly payroll instructions to external providers, monitor outcomes, and validate accuracy.
  • Manage stock plan adjustments in alignment with local legislation.
  • Handle payroll for expatriate employees in collaboration with Global Mobility and Tax advisors.
  • Ensure precise and punctual payroll execution for designated entities in adherence to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) regulations.
  • Conduct net pay payments through online banking.
  • Coordinate Taxes/Social Charges, Pensions, and Insurance payments.
  • Address HR or employee queries concerning supported payrolls.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with external payroll vendors and internal departments.
  • Stay updated and trained on the latest payroll regulations for supported entities.
  • Maintain compliance with Data Privacy and Protection Guidelines (GDPR).
  • Support payroll implementation for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Contribute to global payroll operational objectives.

Whom we are looking for:

  • Minimum 3 years of global payroll processing experience, preferably with Swiss or German payroll exposure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – English proficiency at C1/C2 level.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of employee inquiries.
  • Keen attention to detail and analytical proficiency.
  • Capable of translating business needs into practical solutions effectively.
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with specific European country regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Bilingualism is advantageous, fluency in German is a plus.
  • Experience with time and attendance systems.
  • Understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience with expatriate payrolls.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Suite tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

We would prefer you to have:

  • Proficiency with Workday and ServiceNow platforms.
  • Knowledge of Swiss payroll laws.
  • Additional payroll-related certifications are beneficial.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is advantageous.
