Job description :

DWDM Network Planner is responsible for forecasting, capacity planning and augmenting across Arelion's Optical Transmission Network. He/she designs, develops, implements and maintains short-term and long-term solutions to meet customer demand ahead of time. Manages the delivery of contracted services to customer to ensure that SLAs and KPIs as defined in the relevant contracts are met or exceeded. Additionally, have responsibility for Capex management and governance including the creation and business approval for Quarterly/yearly capital spend.

This role requires:

  • Combination of very strong analytical ability, understanding of the telco landscape, vendor products and technology evolution and economics
  • Ability to work in cross-functional development organization with financial analysts, architects, engineers, project managers and product managers.
  • Strong skills in data driven forecasting models as well as being fluent in data wrangling, programming and SQL querying.
  • Experience of network and services development with an automation-first attitude

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify network expansion/new market development opportunities regions. Interface with and understand opportunities and requirements of Internal and External Customers.
  • Build all-encompassing designs including DWDM link budget, DCM planning etc. and write low level designs.
  • Build both strategic and tactical plans to convert Product unit and Sales forecasts into deployment growth for the optical transport network.
  • Manage short and long-term Transport Network capacity plans, through agreed repeatable processes.
  • Use forecasting models to help build future growth plans.
  • Work very closely with Product and Engineering teams to ensure appropriate solutions are provided to support business needs.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineering to optimize network utilization minimizing capital investment.

Skills Requirements:

  • Have graduated from University / Institute of Technology or you have equal level of knowledge.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of optical communication principles, DWDM technologies, and network design fundamentals
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Business-minded, with a strong drive for development and making improvements to the network and business.
