2024 Product Software Architecture & Engineering Summer Internship in DCIM

Team and Role:

We are seeking an Intern Java Developer to join our engineering team responsible for the development of DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Monitoring), a highly scalable telemetry system that collects IoT data globally, executes Real-Time Stream Processing, Analytics, Alerting, Monitoring, and provides data for further business use.

DCIM is a critical Equinix product, utilizing a cutting-edge technology stack, cloud infrastructure, microservices architecture, real-time stream processing, API-first methodology, and a strong focus on product quality and processing SLA. The significant volume of data managed by DCIM, sourced from over 220 data centers worldwide and continuing to grow, presents unique, fascinating, and challenging opportunities. Assignments and Responsibilities:

As an Intern Java Developer, you will collaborate with our dynamic development team to deliver an IOT inventory system, engage in various projects, and gain practical experience in Java programming. You will work alongside experienced developers, contributing to the design, development, and testing of software applications. This internship offers valuable insights into real-world software development practices and enhances your technical expertise.

  • Assist in designing and implementing software solutions using Java programming
  • Collaborate with the team to understand project requirements and contribute to development
  • Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code following coding regulations and best practices
  • Perform unit testing and engage in code reviews to ensure high-quality results
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, implementing appropriate solutions
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate software components seamlessly

Who You Are (Requirements and Qualifications):

  • Enrolled in an accredited university/college, in your penultimate year of studies in computer science (Expected Graduation: December 2024-September)
  • Available full-time for the Summer Internship Program (July-September)
  • Ability to multitask and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient in English
  • Capable of generating accurate reports, delivering presentations, and sharing ideas
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new tools
  • Proficient in Java programming
  • Understanding of the Spring framework
  • Familiarity with Kafka, Kubernetes, or REST is a plus
  • Keen interest in exploring new technologies
