Global Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a sub function of Group Risk and Compliance. Its purpose is to make sure HSBC understands and effectively controls its non-financial risk position, through end-to-end oversight of processes, risks, and controls. It entails robust stewardship of the bank's risk appetite in order to comply with risk, business and regulatory priorities. It seeks to strengthen the risk culture across the organisation through the application of effective policies and frameworks that drive consistent risk management practices across our businesses and functions at global, regional and market level.

The role holder will be responsible for cross-portfolio change oversight and risk measurement in support of the Bank's strategic transformation priorities.

What you'll do

  • Provide change opinions to global governance (incl. review and challenge of global risk appetite statements and other key MI for change execution risk).
  • Provide advice, guidance and challenge to senior risk and change governance.
  • Finalise initiative coverage across all material change portfolios and entities.
  • Lead second line engagement / oversight for the design and operation of Value & Outcome Management and Planning & Delivery Management mandatory controls.
  • Global oversight of change execution risk events (incl. review of impairment losses and external events).
  • Measure global change execution risk exposure (incl. economic capital submissions, scenario analysis, and stress testing).
  • Global Risk Steward engagement with Portfolio Risk Stewards for Global Functions and DBS Non-Tech portfolios.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within multiple disciplines or a fast changing discipline
  • Proactiveness in developing ideas, continuously searching for improvements
  • Comprehensive understanding of several value units / products / regions / legal entities, alongside an advanced understanding of the industry and the relative positioning of the HSBC's products and services.
  • Latitude to make decisions within the objectives of HSBC global business / global function overall. Little guidance is available and role holder is expected to formulate strategy following the objectives of the business
  • The role holder must possess a high level of sensitivity to the audience, be able to modify the beliefs and opinions of others, and negotiate with significant latitude for the final outcome.
