Here, you are supported, celebrated, and can truly thrive.Your Role...The Senior Accountant assumes a pivotal position in the accounting team, supporting expense accounting for Direct-to-Consumer operations across various businesses within EMEA territories at Warner Bros. Discovery. This individual will oversee accounting tasks related to expenses, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records, and adherence to US GAAP and company protocols.Your Role Accountabilities...
  • Carry out general day-to-day accounting responsibilities for EMEA DTC businesses, such as:
  • Verify the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of financial records regarding expenses with US GAAP and company regulations, including accounting for operational expenses like personnel, G&A and Tech Ops, marketing, sales, and research expenses
  • Ensure prompt recording of expenses along with related accruals and prepaids
  • Produce timely account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of expense-related accounts
  • Engage in the monthly close process for expense-related accounts, involving the preparation and review of journal entries and other financial reports
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Procurement and HR, to ensure prompt and accurate expense recognition
  • Guarantee compliance with SOX regulations and internal control protocols
  • Collaborate with other members of the Controllership team to address and resolve any intercompany discrepancies within the group
  • Offer guidance to junior team members when necessary
  • Interact with key DTC EMEA controllership stakeholders, such as FP&A, Tax, GBS, and country-specific business unit teams. Ensure a thorough understanding of the streaming business within core operating sectors and provide relevant counsel and information for key business decisions. Evaluate team workload periodically and suggest any necessary changes or process enhancements for improved accuracy and efficiency. Lead the team, emphasizing continuous improvement in accuracy and efficiency
  • Work closely with the financial accounting team on the statutory filing process, such as:
  • Preparation of detailed support and account reconciliations by country for key accounts needed in statutory financial statements and related audits
  • Provide detailed backup and audit support to Statutory Financial teams, external auditors, local authorities, and WBD management to ensure successful filings
  • Participate in and offer input on key system and process integrations in the EMEA controllership domain, especially related to the recent merger between Discovery and WarnerMedia and ERP upgrade initiatives
Qualifications & Experience...
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting work experience and a solid understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and SOX requirements
  • BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited university
  • Master's degree in accounting is a plus
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification highly preferred
  • Experience in monitoring financial accounting of key business performance metrics
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems with the ability to learn and master new system tools
  • Experience in automating manual processes
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and possess strong organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Aptitude to efficiently manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members at all levels
  • Experience in implementing best practices requiring significant innovation to enhance processes by applying advanced comprehension of complex functional/technical and business issues and challenges
  • Adaptable to change driven by evolving business initiatives and maintains a positive attitude when time-sensitive milestones change
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally for occasional business trips
  • Strong accounting expertise in a multinational corporation setting
  • SAP knowledge is a plus
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Operational accounting experience
  • Experience in Filmed Entertainment accounting is advantageous
