Position Purpose

Looking for top-notch talent to join the leading distributor of automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added services, operating a vast network of locations in the U.S and Canada. In this role, you will serve as the head of engineering tasked with leading the development of cutting-edge Data platforms for GPC. Collaborating with a skilled team, you'll take charge in building and managing one of the world's largest operations in automotive and industrial replacement parts.

This leadership position involves implementing the technology strategy and overseeing the unified data platforms for GPC. The ideal candidate must have a strong foundation in technology, a knack for understanding tech trends, and a hands-on approach to executing strategies. They should possess expertise in modern technology stacks, agile delivery methods, a focus on customer experience, and a successful track record of upgrading legacy data technologies at scale.

The role necessitates close cooperation with internal teams and external partners, requiring exceptional relationship-building skills and organizational acumen. Excellent communication and presentation abilities are vital, along with the capacity to attract, nurture, and cultivate engineering talent.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the GPC team to execute the strategy for upgrading Data and BI platforms.
  • Architect the technology platforms and follow the roadmap for enhancing new data and analytics capabilities supporting the unified data and analytics strategy.
  • Hold engineering accountability for the Data and Analytics Domain.
  • Ensure successful platform delivery.
  • Streamline existing platforms, reduce technical debt, and lower total cost of ownership.
  • Work with other leaders to promote agile methodologies, customer-centric problem-solving, faster solution delivery, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead, manage, and inspire a team of engineers to create top-notch solutions.
  • Establish cross-functional data and analytics delivery teams for business.

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in software engineering and technology.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Data and BI engineering, Data warehousing, and Data modeling.
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and impactful results.
  • Extensive background in building enterprise systems supporting business priorities.
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud, Google BigQuery, Informatica IICS, CDC replication, Power BI, and Qlik Sense is advantageous.
  • Experience in managing a team of 10+ internal and extended delivery resources.
  • Ability to recruit, inspire, and retain exceptional IT professionals.
  • Strong financial acumen to align technology investments with critical business needs.
  • Excellent communication, team-building, and talent development skills.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
